This year, we showcase farming through the eyes of our members in every season. Through winter, spring, summer, and fall, Catskills farming is ever-present and thriving. Whether snow is falling or the sun is shining, animals roam, produce grows, maple syrup runs, and fields and forests are carefully tended. These farms not only produce food, but also preserve the open spaces and rural character that define the Catskills. We are fortunate to enjoy local products in every season, which is why buying local is not just a slogan, it is a way of life.

In this year’s guide, explore the variety of products being produced throughout the Catskills. dear native grapes in Walton (page 13) invites you to their tasting room with a view as they work to bring grapes back to the Catskills.  Platner Brook Farm in Delhi (page 25) to meet their sheep or catch them at the farmers’ market. Thompson’s Sugar Shack in Jefferson (page 41) during Maple Weekends in March, where you can tour the sap house and, if the season is right, watch the evaporator in action.  Fox Hollow Nursery in West Laurens (page 47) is a holiday favorite, with cut-your-own Christmas trees and family fun.  Mountain Ash Farm in Callicoon (page 71) enjoy their farmstand, beef, chickens, and apiary.  Catskill Wagyu in Accord (Page 79) where they raise purebred Wagyu beef and offer summer tours.

The abundance of products, life, and growth in these pages reflects the spirit of the Catskills. Everywhere you look, hardworking farmers and growers are shaping this region, providing food, care for the land, and the rural character that makes it special. They are the lifeblood of the Catskills, sustaining our community throughout the year.
