East Meets West Theater Workshop with Lanny Harrison

Back by popular demand for a seventh year!
In these playful & provoking sessions, participants will discover some of the myriad characters who dwell within. Through exercises that emphasize imagination, improvisation, and transformation, Lanny will lead the group on a voyage of theatrical exploration and contemplative practice.

Music, live or chosen from an eclectic sound library, will be an integral part of each evening.
No prior experience in theater or dance is required—just an open mind & a body wearing comfortable clothes.
Participants may take as many sessions as they wish.

Performer, poet, teacher, Lanny Harrison began her career in Moni Yakim’s NY Pantomime Theater in 1966. For the past 35 years, she has written and presented one-woman shows, touring America & Europe. She’s collaborated with musicians & theater folk, including the late Collin Walcott, Steve Clorfeine, Lily Pink, Terre Roche, Robin Daniels, and Jay Clayton. Since 1969, Lanny has been a member of Meredith Monk’s House Foundation for the Arts. She is presently working on a mixed-media show in collaboration with Mr. Clorfeine, Ms Daniels, Christine Alicino & Wendell Beavers, ‘Another Nomadic Event’. Ms Harrison is a founding teacher at West Kortright Centre; teaches an ongoing workshop at NY Shambhala Center and a class every Spring Semester at NYU’s Gallatin Division. She is a certified meditation instructor in the Shambhala tradition of Tibetan buddhism.
